Keeping your pet safe during the summer heat!

Summertime is approaching fast and with summer comes heat, meaning potential dangers to your pets. Dogs and cats do shed, so coupling that with grooming is something that many pet owners will think to do in order to protect their furry friends from being affected by the heat. There is something which sometimes gets overlooked though, which is hot pavement and stone. Sidewalks, streets, parking lots, driveways or even your own backyard can get to absurdly high heats (a 90° day can cause pavement to be at about 150°!). While we as humans are protected by our shoes and socks, our pets have to tread on this ground with their exposed paws. While completely avoiding hot surfaces may be impossible, you can take steps to make sure that your pets are cared for. At Braveheart Beard Oil, we don’t just make products for beards - we have products for your dogs and cats and can help!

With the upcoming heat, it’s our responsibility to ensure our pets stay healthy and safe as they cruise the outside world. Braveheart’s Merlin’s Paw Armor is a topical ointment made with pet-safe ingredients to help ease paw cracks and pain. Made with a variety of food grade oils and soothing ingredients, the ointment is safe for both cats and dogs - even if they lick their paws! Think of Merlin’s paw armor as performing the roles of sunscreen and aloe vera for your pets paws; the ointment helps both prevent damage from happening AND helps soothe any damage which has been done. Merlin’s Paw Armor is optionally available with CBD - a great option for increased pain relief and overall health.

Merlin’s Paw Armor is not restricted to the summer time heat either - it’s a useful pet care product year round!  Animals can experience similar paw (and even nose) pain with the nippy winter weather - applying this ointment will protect their paws in both very hot and very cold climates.

Here are a few things you can do to keep your pet safe in the heat:

  • Test the pavement to make sure it isn’t too hot before your cat or dog goes out

  • Always have water available for your pet

  • Keep them groomed

  • Apply some Merlin’s Paw Armor before letting them outside

By taking these steps, you’ll ensure that both you and your pet can enjoy the outside weather!
